2019 Audi Q8 vs 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE

Proudly Serving Brentwood, TN

Audi is continuously looking to push in the envelope, but this time it seems like the German manufacturer may be about to turn the entire automotive market in its head. The reason is the recent announcement of the 2019 Audi Q8 crossover. Although it is not set to go on sale in the United States until October, Audi’s sporty new crossover already looks more than capable of dethroning the popular Mercedes Benz GLE and claiming its place among the best luxury crossovers currently on the road. In light of this, we’ll now take a closer look at the differences between the 2019 Audi Q8 and the Mercedes Benz GLE to show you why so many experts are predicting huge things to come for Audi’s latest model.

Appearance and Style

Considering that the 2019 Q8 might just be one of the best-looking vehicles Audi has ever manufactured, it only makes sense to start by discussing appearance and style. There really isn’t much not to like about the looks of the new Q8, which has a much sleeker, sportier appearance than the larger GLE. With its lower roofline, wider grille and unique rear taillights, the new Q8 even gives the popular Audi Q7 a run for its money. When comparing the Audi Q8 and the Mercedes Benz GLE side-by-side, it instantly becomes obvious that the Audi is far more eye-catching. In fact, the Q8 is really the only one of the two that actually looks like a crossover SUV since the GLE looks a bit like somebody stuck bigger tires on a full-size coupe.

Performance

Performance is an important factor when choosing a crossover SUV. Even though most crossover drivers are looking for the safety, handling, and control offered by a car, the fact is that a crossover is still a sports utility vehicle. The only problem is that the Mercedes Benz GLE is forced to make some sacrifices in terms of its sport and utility capabilities in order to achieve its goal of providing the handling and appearance of a coupe. In Audi’s own words, the Q8 is “a fusion of a four-door luxury coupe and a large SUV.” In this sense, the new Audi model accomplishes something that, to date, no other automaker has managed, and this is to produce an SUV that fully tows the line between the appearance of a coupe and the power and utility of an SUV. To this end, the 2019 Q8 is powered by a 355-horsepower, 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that should definitely outperform the 329-horsepower V6 engine that comes standard on the 2019 GLE.

Interior and Features

Despite its smaller overall dimensions, the 2019 Q8 excels in terms of interior size and feels far more spacious and roomier than it looks from the outside. By not including a third-row of seating as with the Q7, Audi ensures that the Q8 provides comfort and plenty of head- and legroom no matter where you’re seated. Not only that, but the entire design of the interior looks sleek, clean and stylish. Up front, drivers can take advantage of Audi’s new two-screen infotainment system that’s also found on the new A6, A7 and A8 models. This system promises even greater convenience while also boosting the overall style.

Considering all of the above factors, it is no wonder why Audi is so excited about the release of the 2019 Q8. Moreover, Audi fans are sure to be just as excited once they finally get behind the wheel of the new Q8 for the first time.
