 What's New for the 2019 Audi A8?
The 2019 Audi A8 is the world's most technologically advanced car. Taller, longer and better controlled than the previous model, the vehicle offers superb ride comfort, excellent body control, a blessedly quiet interior and it's the first vehicle to provide Level 3 self-driving capability. It cruises over mountains and through winding freeways with ease. Its new advanced self-parking features let the driver relax while the A8 parks itself. Plus, optional dynamic all-wheel steering enables drivers maneuver better in tight spaces. Some call the new Audi A8 serenity on four wheels.
The A8 now has a new chassis, standard air springs, as well as adjustable dampers for excellent body control and the fantastic Audi Intelligence active suspension as an option. The AI systems use cameras to scan the road ahead, raises the body when it spots imperfections and absorbs them with the suspension, so the occupants don't feel it. The 2019 Audi A8's infotainment system has a 10.1-inch haptic-feedback touchscreen that pulses when tapped. A second screen below the center stack display HVAC controls, navigation and Google searches and more. The system only has one knob which controls the volume. The Audi Virtual Cockpit with its high-definition configurable instrument cluster comes standard on all A8 vehicles.
The new interior features exquisite materials and optional foot massager and warmer and reclining, heating and massaging functions for front and rear seat passengers. Active noise cancellation through speakers in the audio system which hushes outside noise comes on all V-8, W-12, as well as plug-in hybrid models of the 2019 Audi A8. Audi has announced it plans to release the plug-in hybrid model of the 2019 A8 in the United States in early 2019. The vehicle has an inductive-charging capability and a combined 449 horsepower.
A single-turbo 3.0-liter, 335 horsepower V-6 engine that produces 369 pound-feet of torque will be standard with the 2019 Audi A8 when its launched. Audi will add a twin-turbo 4.0-liter 460 horsepower V-8 engine a few months later. Both engines will get hybrid assistance from a 48-volt electrical system that improves fuel economy and work in tandem with a paddle-shiftable eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF. All models of the 2019 Audi A8 have Quattro all-wheel drive as part of their standard equipment. There is an A8 with a W-12 engine, but it might not be sold in the United States.
